hockey olympics

How important is it for the Canadian Men's Hockey team to win gold at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver?
I know it's always important to win gold in Olympic hockey, but it's especially important considering the Olympics are on their home ice.
What will it mean for Canadian hockey (and Canada in general) if the Canadians do end up winning the gold?
What will it mean if they don't?
In my opinion, it is crucial. After the 2006 debacle, we need to show up big on our home ice. I've been watching these things on Sportsnet about hockey teams preparing for the Olympics, and like they have said, "Canadians will not settle for anything less than gold due to the failure in Turino(sp?), and that it's on home ice."
I will be incredibly disappointed if they don't, and I know that a tonne of other Canadians will be too.

How Much Money Would a Family Need to Attend the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver?
1.6 million tickets to the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver became available and the prices range anywhere from $25 to $1100 per ticket. For the closing ceremony alone, the tickets may range anywhere from $175 to $775. This can be quite pricey, depending on the events that you attend and whether or not you're a family member of any of the athletes. Family member tickets account for 30% of the tickets at the Olympics. However, you need not only factor in the price of tickets. You also have to factor in travel, lodging, and meals to determine how much taking your family to Vancouver for the 2010 Winter Olympics will cost.
Sporting events
As it stands, men's hockey is going to be the most expensive event. The tickets will be $775 for the best seats in the arena. The cheaper seats will range anywhere from $350 to $450. Next to that is figure skating, which has ticket costs ranging from $175 to $525.
Fortunately, over 50% of the tickets for sale will be priced under $100. 100,000 of the tickets will cost only $25. Some of these tickets can be found for the cross-country skiing events. Tickets for these events will range from $25 to $75. Women's ice hockey also falls into this range at $25 per ticket.
The ceremonies
As stated before, the closing ceremony will range anywhere from $175 to $775. The opening ceremony is where it can get quite expensive. The tickets will range anywhere from $175 to $1100. It is said that all tickets are going to be strong in demand. The demand won't be strong just in Canada, but the demand will be strong all over the globe. It is not expected that there will be an empty seat, especially because three in four Canadians have said they intend on attending the event. That means you need to go ahead and make your lodging plans if you intend on attending. There will be a lot of people from all over the world attending the Winter Olympics.
Other costs
You need to factor in what events you're going to attend and how many tickets you need for each. On top of that you're going to have to factor in what sort of lodging you want. You may choose a hotel or another type of accommodation. You need to estimate how much food costs are going to be and what your travel costs are. It is very hard to figure it all to the dollar, but you can make your plans, set your budgets, and pull off the trip for the lowest price you possibly can.
So it is possible for your entire family to go without you breaking the bank. It is very important to do your research so that you can secure the best prices possible. To secure the best prices, make your reservations as soon as possible. The longer you wait, the more expensive it is going to come. Although it may seem as if the 2010 Winter Olympics are far off, the truth is that they are not that far. The truth is that the event will be here before we know it. At least you will already have your trip planned and everything in place. That is a great way to rid yourself of a lot of the anxiety that occurs when trying to plan a trip for the family. That is also a great way to ensure that everything runs as smooth as possible. There is going to be enough chaos surrounding the event the way it is, but at least it will be positive chaos.

Pro Hockey

What are the odds of making pro hockey?
Not nhl, just entry level pro.
The odds of making it into an NHL feeder system (AHL, ECHL) or even an independent league (CHL, UHL, IHL) are extremely slim. They scout and pick their players based on the top junior programs in North America and Europe...so ultimately you would need to be one of the best players in a junior league to even have the opportunity to make one of those teams, and you'd have to be 20 or under in order to even be eligible to play on a junior team.

College Hockey: a Few Notes
College hockey is one of many sports wherein high school students apply to avail of an athletic scholarship. With an athletic scholarship, students get to play the sport they are talented in, while pursuing a college degree.
When hockey began to emerge as a popular sport in Canada, it went by no official name. It was instead referred to as Hurley, Wicket, Ricket and Break-Shins. The origin of the word hockey is in itself a contentious subject. There are claims that the word is a derivative of the French word hoquet, meaning “a shepherd's crook.” However, there is a story in the town of Windsor, Nova Scotia, regarding a certain Colonel Hockey, who used the game to keep his troops healthy and invigorated. It is said that the game soon adopted his name, since people referred to these military workouts as "Hockey's Game."
Hockey was considered an amateur sport until 1904. This was when the first professional hockey league was created. Interestingly, it was created in the United States, and it was called the International Pro Hockey League. Three years later, the National Hockey Association (NHA) was formed. However, World War I threw the entire hockey establishment into confusion, and the men in charge of the NHA suspended operations.
Some of the larger schools with top-notch college hockey programs do have large recruiting budgets, but most do not. An individual needs to let the college he wishes to attend know what he can do to improve their college hockey team.
The Internet has proven to be a useful venue for students aiming for an athletic scholarship. There are many websites and online forums wherein students and scouts can come together and interact. D1Athletes is an online community wherein student athletes and coaches alike can share and exchange information they need on college hockey teams. D1Athletes offers them a place to build an online presence and gain important public exposure.

The Joys Of Betting On Sports
There are many things that one can bet on. Indeed, anything in which there can be more than one outcome can be betted on. Yet for many years, we have seen a consistently high number of people opting to bet on sports; the existence of so many other things that can be betted on notwithstanding. At this very moment, as you read this, chances are that there are thousands, possibly even millions, of people in the world who have placed their bets on various horseracing, boxing, soccer, tennis, wrestling and even hockey sporting events. So what is it that makes people so keen about betting on sports? Why can't they bet on other things – some of which seem to be more unpredictable (and therefore potentially more exciting, from a betting point of view) than sporting events?
Well, it would seem that the reason as to why so many people are so keen on sports betting has something to do with the unique ‘joys of betting on sports.'
Incidentally, when we talk about betting on sports, all we are looking at are the situations where, before a certain sports event commences, people make various predictions on it, and back those predictions with money. Under this arrangement, then, if their predictions turn out to be true, they win money. And if their predictions turn out to be untrue, they lose the money they will have put down.
Now one of the unique joys of betting on sports, arguably the biggest one, is that whatever way the bet goes, one still ends up with what comes across as a win-win situation. If one's prediction comes true, there is a double joy: the joy of your preferred team winning, and the joy of your winning the money from those who will have betted the opposite way. If one's prediction doesn't come true, one will still have enjoyed the thrill of the game, even if they lose the money in the bet.
Incidentally, the enjoyment of a game becomes greater if you have higher stakes in it (like if you have put money on its outcome), than if you are just a passive spectator. When you have some money in the game, you find yourself getting very deeply drawn into it, knowing full well that in the event of it going either way, you could end up so much richer, or so poorer. You find your adrenaline levels fluctuating wildly with every move in this game, in which you have a real stake. Indeed, the reason many people go about betting on sports is not in search of the money they stand to win through the bets per se; but more in search of the heightened thrill.
One of the reasons people take part in games – either as spectators or as players - is in a bid to ‘stress themselves up' a little bit, and thus rid themselves of boredom. The greater the thrill in the game (where the thrill manifests through the suspense and acknowledgement of the stakes), the more ‘pleasantly stressed' up one becomes during its course, and the higher the overall enjoyment of it. Thus ways through which one can increase this thrills are worked out. One of those is, of course, by raising one's stakes in the game; which is what we achieve when betting on sports.

Tips for buying man formal wear tuxedo
* Tuxedo for short stature and thin: Double breast is not kind of style for those who are thin and short stature . A single breast button down jacket is best choice for their personalities. Don it with pleated pants. And don't forget that jacket with more than three buttons can spoil the whole look.
* Tuxedo for slim and tall: If you are slim and tall, then you have all options available with you with Tuxedo. You can wear almost anything of your choice but for those who are too thin then double breast jacket with big pads on shoulders is indeed a good option, that will give your shoulders a broader look. Make a choice for pleated shirt because it will enhance your personality.
* Tuxedo for those having broad shoulder: Avoid double breast style jacket if you have broad shoulders then, as it will draw attention to the broadness of your shoulders. Tall and fleshy men should attire vest Rather than going in for cummerbund as cummerbund will highlight your waist. On the contrary vest hides your physical flaws.
* Tuxedo for Short & broad men: Single breast jacket is preferable for Short & broad men to draw the attention away from their large waistline, with padded shoulder jacket. You will look handsome in one or two button tuxedo jacket.
* Tuxedo for fashion conscious man: If you are very fashion conscious and wish you to maintain a unique fashion statement, the best idea for you is to hunt for a classic rented tuxedo. That will enable you to maintain your style without paying a big price for it. But before taking a tuxedo decide on the formality of the event. See to it if there is a dress code for it.Be clear as to whether it's a daytime occasion or a night function while deciding on the color of your tuxedo.
* You should ensure what your partner is wearing because in such parties, the color of your wardrobe should go well with your partner's dress particularly during a couple entry occasion.
* The main thing is, do not to forget, that the final thing that makes a difference is fit. Whatever you pick up to wear, whether its ready made or tailored, it should be comfortable to wear. Ensure that it fits properly on the neck and shoulders.
Shirt sleeve should be one and a half inch low from the jacket sleeve. So next time you go shopping for tuxedo suit, keep in mind what style would be perfect for you with the help of above mention tuxedo suit buying guide and we are sure you will be the center of attraction everywhere and everybody. So, we wish you come up with flying colors at all occasions whether it's a interview, meeting, presentation, convocation ceremony or your own special day of wedding bells.
